From the supplier: Brigham Young University (BYU) Prof. Brent Strong is a pioneer in the testing of garbage cans. Strong, who chairs the BYU Manufacturing Engineering and Technology Dept., first conducted garbage cans tests in 1987 when the Provo City Sanitation Dept. asked him to identify the most effective cost-efficient car manufacturing process. Since this initial experiment, Strong and his colleagues have been commissioned by the general waste industry to perform numerous other tests, including the Squeeze Test, the Drop Test, the Wind Tunnel Test, the Crash Recovery Test and the Flammability Test. Strong claims that he most enjoyed conducting the Drag Test, which sought to find out how long a can will last while being dragged. He has been conferred the Honorary Garbologist Award by the National Solid Waste Handles of North America in 1992.
